A ground-up bespoke build and a customer restoration produce very different results from the start. A bespoke build begins with the builder's own donor and a new, corrosion-protected chassis, and ends as a new vehicle built to your specification. A restoration rebuilds the specific Defender you already own.
When a ground-up bespoke build is right
Choose a ground-up build when you want maximum customization and a predictable result. Because the builder controls the donor and chassis, the starting point is known and the specification is open. This is the model Monarch Defender uses: every vehicle is built new from the company's own donor, and customer cars are not restored. A current Defender can be applied as trade-in credit instead.
When a customer restoration is right
Choose a restoration when the specific vehicle matters: a family car, a rare original, or a Defender with history you want to keep. A restoration preserves that car's identity, though the scope and consistency depend on the donor's condition.
