The volume import vs the American atelier
Arkonik has built its name on accessibility: hundreds of builds, the most polished configurator in the segment, entry pricing from about $90,000 on its Heritage Works line and $145,000 for a Defender 90, financing up to seven years, and a US handover operation in Charleston. It is the easiest on-ramp in the market, and its builds ride on restored original factory frames, produced at about five Defenders a month in Somerset, England.
Monarch is the opposite shape: about 60 trucks a year, each a single-owner commission on a brand-new aluminum body and new corrosion-protected chassis, specified without a menu, built and supported in Illinois.
The 24-month question
Arkonik's own FAQ puts its lead time at roughly 24 months. Monarch delivers a commission in 6 to 12 months, which means a Monarch ordered today is typically in your driveway a year before an Arkonik ordered the same week, without an Atlantic crossing in the delivery plan.
Power and coverage
The engine ladders overlap: Arkonik offers the 430 hp LS3 and the 495 hp LT1 alongside Rover V8s and diesels; Monarch runs LS3, LT1 (460 hp), and the supercharged 650 hp LT4 that Arkonik does not offer. Arkonik backs builds with a 12-month bumper-to-bumper warranty and lifelong after-sales support through approved US specialists; Monarch's coverage is two years bumper-to-bumper with GM's factory warranty on the crate engine on top.
Where Arkonik is the better fit
Choose Arkonik for entry price, financing, and the configurator experience; nobody makes it easier to get into a restored V8 Defender. Choose Monarch when the brief is a new truck rather than a restored one: brand-new body, up to 650 hp, twice the warranty, half the wait, built in America.

Traditional Restoration
Original everything: the loose steering, the weak brakes, the leaks, the smell of gasoline. Beautiful in a museum, exhausting on the road. You will drive it twice a summer.

Typical Restomod
New parts bolted into a thirty-year-old body. Better, but it still rattles, still rusts, and still doesn't drive like a modern truck. You will drive it on nice weekends.

Monarch Defender (us)
A ground-up build on a brand-new aluminum body: a GM V8 with up to 650 HP, modern suspension, brakes, and climate control. It looks like 1990 and drives like 2026. You will fight your family for the keys.
